Shyreo reads the keywords out of every photograph you upload: the names, clubs and places you tagged in Photo Mechanic or Lightroom.

How it works

    Tag before you export

    Add keywords in Lightroom's Keywording panel, Photo Mechanic's IPTC stationery pad or Capture One: names, clubs, places, whatever you will look for later.

  2. 02 ▸

    Upload as usual

    From the dashboard, from Lightroom or by moving your archive in. Shyreo reads the keywords as each photograph arrives, on every plan.

  3. 03 ▸

    Open “Search photos”

    Type a name, a club or a place. Results appear while you type, from every gallery in your account at once.

  4. 04 ▸

    Go to the photograph

    Each result shows the gallery, the filename, the date it was taken and its keywords. Click it to open that gallery.

What is in it

How it searches

  • Part of a word is enough: “jan” finds “Jan Jansen”, capitals or not
  • Lightroom's keyword hierarchy counts on every level: “Jan Jansen” under “Athletes” under “People” is found on all three
  • XMP and IPTC keywords are both read, and “Ajax” and “ajax” count as one
  • With nothing typed you see your most used keywords, with how many photographs carry each; click one to search it
  • Up to 200 photographs per search
  • Every search has its own address, to bookmark or come back to

Questions

Where do the keywords come from?

From your own files: the XMP and IPTC keywords that Photo Mechanic, Lightroom or Capture One write when you export. Shyreo never makes one up, so a photograph without keywords is not found.

Can my clients search too?

No. Search is only in your dashboard. Keywords often name people, so they stay with you.

I added keywords after uploading. What now?

Keywords are read when a photograph arrives. Upload the file again under the same name and choose “Replace”, or publish it again from Lightroom, where a keyword change marks it for that. Hearts and comments stay on the photograph.

I am not on Pro yet. Can I search my photographs later?

Yes. Keywords are read from every photograph on every plan, and “Search photos” already shows how many of yours carry them. Move to Pro and you can search them straight away.
