Favorites and selections

A heart, and a list with filenames.

Your client taps a heart, or works through a proofing round with a limit and a counter. You get the choice as thumbnails and as filenames.

How it works

  1. 01 ▸

Choose what your client may do

Under “Client features” in the gallery's “Settings”, “Favorites” is on from the start. Add “Comments”, “Proofing mode” or “Stars and colour labels” when you want them.

  2. 02 ▸

    Your client taps a heart

On a photo in the gallery, on the large photo, or with the F key on a computer. The heart at the top of the gallery then shows only their favorites.

  3. 03 ▸

    Or sends a selection

With “Proofing mode” on, your client ticks the photos they want and presses “Send selection”. Shyreo asks for their email address if it does not have it yet.

  4. 04 ▸

    You hear about it

By email, and as a push notification if you turn those on: when a selection comes in, when a client reaches 1, 10, 25, 50 or 100 favorites, and for every comment.

  5. 05 ▸

Take the list to your editing

Open the gallery's “Favorites & selections” tab, or the page of that name for all your galleries, and press “Copy filenames” or “Download selection list”.

What is in it

  • Copy the filenames or download them as a list, ready to paste into Lightroom
  • From Starter, a proofing round: “Choose your 25 final photos”, with a counter and a send button
  • A notification when the selection comes in, and everything per client in your dashboard
  • Comments on a photo (“this one, but lighter”) in the gallery, not in a mail thread

Stars and colours

From Starter

Per gallery you choose what your client may give a photograph: 1 to 5 stars, one of Lightroom's five colour labels, or both. Your client taps them on the large photo, or uses the same keys as in Lightroom.

  • Every photograph in the grid shows what was given
  • You see them per client, with a list per star and per colour, ready to paste into Lightroom
  • With the Lightroom plugin they land on your own photos by themselves
  • Lightroom's own keys: 1 to 5 for stars, 6 to 9 for colours

The proofing round

From Starter
  • Set a maximum under “Maximum photos to select”, or leave it empty for no limit
  • A counter at the bottom of the gallery; at the maximum, no more photos can be ticked
  • Tapping the counter shows only the ticked photos
  • Your client can add a note when sending, and it shows beside the selection
  • While your client chooses, you see it under “Selections in progress”; once sent, it is fixed
  • Downloads can be limited to their own choice with “Selected images only”

An album design for approval

From Starter

Put the spreads of an album in the gallery's “Album” tab, as your design program exports them. Your client leafs through, taps a spread where something should change and writes what, then approves the version under their own name.

  • Notes at a place on a spread, numbered there and listed beside it, with your answers under them
  • The next version is put together beside the one your client sees, and replaces it when you send it
  • Export the whole album again for a new version: Shyreo shows your client which spreads changed
  • Earlier versions stay in the history, with their notes and approval
  • Copy the notes as a list, spread by spread, for your design program

Questions

What is the difference between favorites and a selection?

Favorites are hearts, as many as your client likes, on every plan. A selection is a round with “Proofing mode”, from Starter: a maximum if you want one, a counter, and a list that comes to you when your client sends it.

Does my client need an account?

No. Hearts are saved as they are tapped and stay with that browser, so they are still there next time. On another phone or computer, your client starts a new list.

How do I know who chose what?

Every visitor has a list of their own. It carries a name or email address once your client leaves one: to download, to send a selection, or by signing in with the client login.

Can I get the favorites into Lightroom?

Yes. Copy the filenames or download the list, ready to paste into Lightroom. With the Lightroom plugin, every heart also shows in Lightroom's Comments panel with your client's name.

Can my client approve an album design?

Yes, from Starter. Upload the spreads in the gallery's “Album” tab and send the version. Your client leaves notes on the spreads and approves it under their own name; you get a mail. A new version asks for approval again, and the spreads count towards your storage.
